Athletic Department & Campus Recreation Merger with Student Fee:

  • New opportunities to give all students increased access to new and renovated facilities
  • Implementing a fee creates an immediate resource to invest in the student experience through Campus Rec & Athletics
  • Additional resources allow for proper maintenance of our Campus Rec and Athletic facilities, protecting our current and immediate future investments
  • See “Updated Charges Explained” and “Ath & Campus Rec Fee Calculator”

Summer Camp Model:

  • It is important to get K-12 students on campus as frequently as possible
  • Hosting more overnight camp experiences on campus again (adjacent SRE idea)
  • More centralized campus approach to running camps

Impact of a Student Athlete:

  • Trying to capture the financial impact of a student athlete attending the University of Maine
  • Focuses on current tuition and fee revenue in comparison to expenses associated with supporting student athletes
  • The “Financial Impact of a Student Athlete” spreadsheet is an attempt to create a model that helps capture this impact
  • Modifications are expected to this spreadsheet, but this information can help us think about this impact and what it means for UMaine
