UMaine FSC History:

The UMaine FSC was founded by Chelsea Ferk and Amanda Merchant in Spring 2011. The hard work and dedication from the club’s first executive board paid off and in November 2011 the UMaine FSC was officially recognized by the UMaine Student Government as a student organization. The UMaine FSC is also recognized by UMaine Campus Recreation as a sport club. Membership is open to any UMaine student or staff member regardless of previous skating experience. The UMaine FSC currently serves twelve active members including a variety of different skating levels and abilities. Members of the UMaine FSC have private ice time at the Alfond arena on campus and skate rental is available through campus recreation. Membership dues are collected each semester as ice time is scheduled at the beginning of every semester. The UMaine FSC is registered with the United States Figure Skating Association as a collegiate club. The long term goals of the UMaine FSC include private ice time for 2-3 hours each week, hosting an annual ice-show and creating UMaine’s very first synchronized skating team.
