Dr. Michelle Moore is an Associate Professor and the Department Chair of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at the University of Maine. She was a faculty member at West Virginia University (WVU) from 2012 through 2024 and served for several years as the Associate Chair of CSD and Vice Chair of Speech-Language Pathology at WVU before joining UMaine. In her research program, Dr. Moore applies a multi-faceted approach to studying phonological, orthographic, and memory processes in language and literacy for both typical and impaired learning. This work focuses on finding theoretically-motivated ways to improve the evaluation and the instruction of spoken language and reading in children. Her research and teaching has been strengthened through her years of clinical work as a certified speech-language pathologist across different settings. In her various academic roles, it is a highlight for Dr. Moore to have the opportunity to mentor and support students and faculty in their professional endeavors.
