Brandon Dixon
Brandon Dixon is a fourth year Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Maine in Orono. Having experienced multiple injuries over his life he may need implants in the future. Brandon is highly interested in biomaterials and the cellular interactions that occur on the surface of these implant materials. As the Team Leader, Brandon is responsible for managing the group member’s progress to ensure the final goal is reached. He distributes tasks evenly among team members to guarantee the objective is completed. Brandon monitors each team member’s work and determines the course of action for success. Although he leads, Brandon values all input from team members and makes certain all member’s ideas are heard. Growing up on a rural farm isolated from stores, Brandon prides himself on being resourceful. From fixing tractors to caring for Russian honey bees, he has a broad range of skills that can be applied in numerous situations.
Outside of the classroom, Brandon greatly enjoys the outdoors. From snowshoeing to fishing, Brandon can be found outside enjoying the Maine weather in all seasons. His outdoor experiences have given him the extra determination to complete any project. During the summer, Brandon enjoys riding on his 2010 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic motorcycle . During school breaks, Brandon travels home and creates S.T.E.A.M. builds with local elementary and middle school students to expose them to engineering . Brandon is certified in Professional Rescuer First Aid and CPR. He is qualified to assist fellow group members that may fall ill during the project.
