Cardboard Canoe Race
The First Annual Cardboard Canoe Race was held October 1, 2016 on the Stillwater River in Orono. Participants were given cardboard and duck tape and had an hour and a half to complete their boat. Winner was determined from whoever could stay out on the water for the longest amount of time.
The First ASME Cardboard Canoe Race was held back in 1991. The annual tradition faded away but was brought back in 2003. After again fading the 2016 race was held. The club hopes to continue the race for years to come.
