Student Guide to Employment - Paychecks
Most students are paid on a bi-weekly schedule. Direct Deposit is mandatory but it may take up to 2 weeks for paperwork to be processed so your first check may be issued in paper form. Paper checks can be picked up at the Office of Student Employment after 12:00pm on the day paychecks are issued. A photo ID is required.
If you need a copy of your paystub, you can access it through your MaineStreet account. To access your paycheck information, follow these steps:
- Log on to MaineStreet at mainestreet.maine.edu
- Click Employee Self-Service on the MaineStreet Menu
- Click Payroll and Compensation
- Click View Paycheck
- You may print the current statement by clicking “Print Statement” or you may view other paychecks by clicking “View a Different Paycheck”
If you have any questions about your paycheck after you have submitted your initial paperwork, please contact the Office of Student Employment at 207.581.1349.
Students who are on an assistantship will receive a monthly stipend. The stipend will be deposited into the student’s account (as indicated on the Direct Deposit form) on the last business day of each month.

Please note: You will not get paid for time worked until you have filled out the necessary paperwork and it has been processed by both the Office of Student Employment and the Payroll Office.
Also, the Payroll Office can only speak with the student about their paychecks/payroll. Parents and/or spouses will not be given any information about a student’s payroll status.
