Night Vision

By Dylan Moore

I’m an illustrator, graphic designer and lover of Maine native plants and landscapes. Night Vision depicts an American red squirrel sleeping in a drey nestled in an eastern white pine, the same trees that I grew up feeling so surrounded and protected by as a child growing up in central Maine. Nearby are two fireflies and a luna moth. This scene allows us to peek into a normally hidden place and see a scene of tender, protected slumber and the delicate wonder of nighttime insects in the trees. It helps remind me that when the world feels harsh, especially politically, that tenderness still has a natural place within us and within the ecology.
