How Do I Access My Room?

You’ll receive a temporary access card from your Department Coordinator.
This card works by tapping on the pads at the entrance to your hall and on the lock to your room.

Parking On Campus:

  • Parking permits are required for all vehicles, including visitors
  • Visit Parking & Transportation Services at DTAV Community Center to get a pass (Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.; by appointment only on Friday)
  • Email um.parkingservices@maine.edu for a Red (on-campus) Parking Permit.
  • 24/7 Visitor Parking Permits available in the DTAV lobby

Kitchen Amenities:

  • 12-cup coffee pot
  • Cooktop range (no oven)
  • Full refrigerator with freezer
  • Toaster (2-slot)
  • Microwave oven
  • Pots and pans

Trash Removal: Use the dumpsters.

Laundry: Located in the DTAV Community Building, lower level to the left.  

Laundry is free — just use your community card.

Public areas of your apartment are cleaned: Every Thursday; you are responsible for your bedroom.

Linens & Towels (per person): 

  • 2 sets cloth sheets (flat sheet set)
  • 2 Bath towels
  • 2 Washcloths
  • 1 Blanket
  • 1 Pillow

Please wash your linens each week with your normal laundry.

In Rooms:

  • Review this What to Bring/What Not to Bring list when packing
  • Fan — There is no air conditioning and you may not install air conditioning of any sort
  • Consider bringing extra blankets as well as extra towels and washcloths
  • Mattress pads will make your summer more comfortable
  • Desk lamps
  • Bike locks — please feel free to bring your own bicycle, scooters or skateboards
  • Nothing gas powered may come into the building
  • Do not bring drones to campus

Community resources

  • What do I do upon moving out?
    • Return summer conference cards at the Key Return box at the window in the Community Building. Your key will no longer work after your move out date.
    • Leave room the way you found it. Close window; Furniture should be returned to the original configurations
    • Dispose of food. Unopened non-perishables may be donated to the Black Bear Exchange.
    • A good general cleaning is required.
