The University of Maine’s Department of Psychology affirms our commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and diversity and thereby providing a supportive and open learning environment. We know that diversity, including culture, ethnicity, disability status, gender-identity, national origin, political belief, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status, makes us stronger. Without acknowledging and embracing diversity, it is impossible to build a comprehensive understanding of human behavior (a core endeavor of Psychology) and makes the application of psychology impossible.
