Franco American Programs opens registration for K-5 after school program
University of Maine Franco American Programs invites parents to register their children for an after school French program designed for children in grades K-5 with little to no exposure to French.
Classes are organized by ability and taught by students in UMaine’s French program and College of Education and Human Development. Susan Pinette, director of the UMaine Franco American Centre and professor of modern languages, and Lisa Michaud, coordinator for community engagement with Franco American Programs, supervise the classes.
Class is held on Wednesdays from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Franco American Centre in Crossland Hall, across from the Alfond Sports Arena. This fall, they are offered from Oct. 23-Nov. 20 and again in the spring from Jan. 22-Feb. 26 and March 19-April 16.
Five week sessions are $75 per child, and scholarships are available. Parents can register their children online.
