For me, studying language at the University of Maine is about perspective. The aspect of my Spanish courses that keeps me engaged is learning about the way that other cultures look at the world. From studying the social issues afflicting Latin America to analyzing Spanish literature and history, the diversity of the coursework offered here allows me to be constantly expanding my point of view. I believe that first step to learning more about the world around us is accepting that there may be another way to understand the reality we experience, and studying language helps me to do that.
