Graduate student Chandler Sendek defended his Master of Science degree in Marine Biology last month. His thesis was entitled “Disentangling the effects of climate change, trophic interactions, and harvest on the green sea urchin (Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis) in the Gulf of Maine,” and can be viewed in the UMaine Digital Collections shortly.
Chandler conducted his research in collaboration with researchers at the University of Maine Darling Marine Center, the Maine Department of Marine Resources, and members of the urchin fishery industry. Funding for this research came from the Maine Department of Marine Resources Cooperative Project Agreement #13A 202302170000002133 and the National Science Foundation (NSF), through the National Research Traineeship in 3-D Ecosystem Science (NSF DGE # 2244117).
