April 8 @ 2:30 pm3:30 pm

Free

University of Maine Cooperative Extension is hosting a family-oriented Starting Seeds Indoors workshop on Wednesday, April 8 from 2:30–3:30 p.m. at Millinocket Memorial Library, 5 Maine Avenue.

Gardeners of all ages are invited to this hands-on workshop where Kate Garland, Horticulturist with the UMaine Extension, will provide a 30-minute overview of best practices for successful seed starting, including timing, lighting, soil selection and care. The program will conclude with a make-and-take activity, and participants will leave with newly sown seeds to grow at home and transplant into their own gardens.

At the same time, Extension 4‑H Community Education Assistant Emily Bishop will lead youth in engaging, seed‑themed activities. The session will include a lively read‑aloud connected to seed starting, followed by a hands‑on activity where each child plants a seed to take home.

The workshop is free and open to the public. For more information or to request a reasonable accommodation, contact Nicole Brennan (she/her/hers), Assistant Director Millinocket Memorial Library at 207.723.7020. Receiving requests for accommodations at least 7 days before the program provides a reasonable amount of time to meet the request; however, all requests will be considered.
