Maine Scholars Strategy Network: Undergraduate Social Media Internship The Maine Chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network (SSN) is seeking an undergraduate social media intern for the 2024-2025 academic school year. The Scholars Strategy Network is a national organization that seeks to improve public policy and strengthen democracy by organizing scholars in America’s colleges and universities and connecting scholars and their research to policymakers, civic organizations, and the media. The Maine chapter is among the most active chapters in the country and includes highly respected scholars from throughout the state.
Job Description
Your internship will primarily involve managing the social media presence of the Maine Chapter of SSN. In addition, you will work closely with the Maine SSN leadership team to keep track of the activities, scholarship, and media work of our Maine SSN membership.
Pay/Expectations:
The internship pays a stipend of $750 with two equal installments, one in the Fall 2024 and the other Spring 2025. You will be working 1-2 hours/week for the duration of the academic year. This entails design, upkeep, and regular posting via our Maine SSN Chapter social media presence (currently our Twitter and Instagram accounts, but we may expand to other platforms).
What You Will Gain From the Experience:
- Familiarity with Maine policies, and networking with civic organizations, and scholars doing exciting work throughout the region.
- Hands-on experience in managing and implementing communications strategies. ● The ability to collaborate with SSN scholars on published opinion pieces and attend SSN events and skill-building workshops.
What We are Looking for in a Candidate:
- Social media-savvy team member with comfort across multiple platforms (Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook).
- Working towards a college degree preferably in a related major or combination of majors (social sciences, communication, marketing, public relations).
- Past experience in some combination of communications, policy advocacy, politics, administrative or clerical work, public relations.
- Excellent written communication with strong editing skills and the ability to maintain professionalism.
- Creativity with an eye for design.
- Energy, with a desire to come up with fresh ideas on how to grow our online presence. ● Ability to contribute individually, and participate in cross-functional teams.
