Develop a Proposal
Once planning is underway and a funding opportunity has been identified, the Principal Investigator (PI) is ready to begin crafting a well-structured and competitive proposal.
Strong proposals are closely aligned with the sponsor’s priorities and clearly articulate how the project addresses the stated goals. A compelling narrative, supported by a realistic and well-justified budget, strengthens the overall application. Ensuring that the scope of work and budget are in alignment allows reviewers to easily assess the project’s feasibility and impact.
Proposal development also involves evaluating whether cost sharing is applicable, securing letters of commitment from collaborators or partners, and addressing any compliance considerations such as conflict of interest, export control, or human subject protections.
Taking time to consider each of these elements contributes to a more polished and fundable proposal that meets both the sponsor’s requirements and institutional standards.
