For people seeking to start a new career or advance within their current one, the University of Maine Division of Lifelong Learning is offering several opportunities for professional development and continuing education through the end of the year.
The programs are designed to benefit professionals from a range of sectors, including healthcare, education and nonprofits, as well as people who are unemployed or underemployed.
New this year is the program “Practical Project Management,” in which participants learn how to plan, organize and manage project work through team exercises and discussions. Other programs offer training in grant writing, domestic violence intervention, leadership, public speaking and mediation, among others. A certificate of completion and Continuing Education Units will be available.
UMaine employees can receive 20% select programs through Sept. 25 by using code BACK2SCHOOL20 at checkout. In addition to “Practical Project Management,” the one-time discount code applies to the following programs:
- “What’s Next? Planning Your Transition to Retirement.”
- “Foundations in Restorative Practices.”
- “Integrated Wellness Solutions: The Importance of Self-Care.”
- “Teaching from the Heart: Nonviolent Communication.”
- “Helping People Change: The Power of Group Work.”
- “Constructive Conversations: The Power of Giving and Receiving Feedback.”
All discounted programs are online and have synchronous meeting times.
A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. University of Maine System employees can also apply for Maine Workforce Development Compact Funding.
