Ready for your MaineCard Photo Submission?


Welcome new and incoming students!

Your first step in obtaining a Mobile MaineCard is to submit a photo online that you’d like to use on your digital ID.

We require all students to submit their photo through our online photo submission portal, CloudCard. You may access this portal through a link sent to your maine.edu email account.

**Please note that incoming Fall students will not receive a photo submission invite until mid-May.

Photo ID Requirements

Please verify that your photo meets the following requirements before uploading your photo. Your ID photo must meet all of the requirements below:

  • Cropped slightly above head to middle of chest
  • Taken against a plain, light background
  • Must be taken in color
  • No sunglasses, hats or anything obstructing face
  • Positioned directly facing the camera with eyes open
  • Clear photos only; blurry photos will be denied
  • Size must be no larger than 2MB in size
  • Contact us about religious or medical accommodations

How to Submit Your Mobile MaineCard ID Photo

  • 1. Be sure to use a compatible browser such as Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Microsoft Edge. Firefox and Safari are incompatible browsers and will cause errors.
  • 2. Check your UMS (maine.edu) email account for a unique link invitation to submit your photo. Don’t see it? Check your spam folder. If it’s not there, please contact the MaineCard Office. Do not share your unique link with anyone as this could cause delays in your MaineCard processing.
  • 3. Sign in to the Online Photo Submission portal and submit your Mobile MaineCard ID photo and government-issued ID in the appropriate slots.
  • 4. Be sure your photo and government ID meet all requirements as listed below so as to avoid photo rejection.

What type of government-issued ID to do I need to submit for my Mobile MaineCard?

Acceptable Forms of Government ID

  • U.S. State or Territory Driver’s License
  • U.S. Passport
  • U.S. Passport Card
  • U.S. Military ID Card
  • U.S. Federal or State Agency ID Card
  • Foreign Passport (must be in English)

*If you do not have one of the IDs above, you may use 2 Acceptable Supporting Documents instead.

Acceptable Forms of Supporting Documents* (MUST provide 2 of the below)

  • Drivers Permit
  • High School Photo ID
  • Certified Birth Certificate
  • High School Yearbook photo of senior photo
  • Certified University of Maine Transcript
  • Military Discharge DD214
  • Certified Marriage License

Photo Submission FAQ’s

Photos are approved as fast as they can be! Please remember that the MaineCard Office is closed on Saturday, Sunday, and any official university holidays.

The Photo Submission Committee will always provide a reason for a denied photo. Please submit a new one that matches the Photo Requirements and you should be good to go!

Typically a Driver’s License or Passport will work. If you are unsure, please visit our List of Acceptable Forms of Government-Issued ID.

Place both of your 2 Supporting Documents side-by-side and take a photo of them. Then upload your 1 photo in the ID Verification Document upload slot.
