2025-2026 Academic Year Residence Hall Opening & Move-In

Students may move in no earlier than 8:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29th, 2025.

2025-2026 Academic Year Residence Hall Break Closing

PLEASE NOTE: The following halls do not close at all during the academic year:

  • DTAV/Patch
  • Hancock
  • Hart
  • Knox
  • Penobscot
  • Somerset
  • Stodder
  • York

All other halls:

Winter Break
Vacate by 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025
Return after 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026

Spring Break
Vacate by 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026
Return after 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026

2025-2026 Academic Year Residence Hall Closing

Vacate by 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Commencement participants must get approval by Housing or Residence Life to vacate by 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

Students who will be participating in Commencement need to email um.housing@maine.edu with their role in Commencement (ie, graduating, Color Guard, etc) to be placed on the extended stay list and may stay in their residence hall until 7:00pm Saturday, May 9. (Subject to change depending on date and location of commencement).
