History graduate student association

The history graduate program at the University of Maine is a thriving community of scholars and has the only Ph.D.-granting department in the humanities in the state of Maine. We have about fifty graduate students at any given time who pursue several tracks from an accelerated B.A. and M.A. in five years, to thesis and non-thesis M.A. degrees, and the doctorate. We are one of the largest graduate programs at UMaine with students from California to Pennsylvania and, of course, Maine. The campus and department culture creates an excellent learning environment. Recent graduate students have found many opportunities in cultural organizations and as teachers around the state and across the US and Canada. Our graduate students are active within the department as well as leaders on campus and in the larger Orono-Bangor region.
