York County Farmers’ Network Series: Tree Pruning Workshop

April 11 @ 1:00 pm3:00 pm

Free – $15

York County is home to a vibrant mix of farms—from small specialty growers to multi-generation family operations.

The York County Farmers Network (YCFN) was brought back to life to support this community, foster connection, and help local agriculture thrive well into the future.

In recent years, York County farms have embraced agritourism and direct-to-consumer markets, contributing to Maine’s $172 million in direct farm sales. But as farming evolves, so do the challenges—like preparing for change in long term weather patterns, navigating labor and finances, and planning for the next generation.

In this workshop, Renae Moran will demonstrate pruning techniques and teach the principles of pruning fruit trees. The class will include a discussion of different strategies of pruning that can improve fruiting and manage tree size. There are many ways to shape and prune a tree, so come and learn about what works best for your orchard.
