Heat Illness Research in Marching Bands

Dr. Dawn Emerson will be collecting data for a study with the UMaine marching band. Dr . Emerson and her team will be at rehearsal that afternoon assessing hydration, physical activity, environment, and physiological measures. Individuals can talk to participating students about their experience with the study, what they’ve learned, and how the experience has helped them. Some equipment will be available for demonstration, including items used to assess hydration and physical capacity used by Dr Emerson in her research lab.
