The Try on Leadership graduate certificate is a 100% online program for experienced educators who want to take the next step in their career and see if leadership is a good fit for them. Students in this program learn about high-quality supervisory practices, organizational analysis, time management, and general school and special education law. Throughout your coursework, you will work closely with your instructors and practicing administrators in your schools or districts to better understand what itโs like to serve as an administrator. This program also fulfills the coursework requirements for the Assistant Building Administrator certification in Maine.ย
Our graduate certificates can be completed as focused, standalone professional learning credentials or as part of a masterโs or Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree program.ย

Careers
Schools around the United States are in need of highly qualified educators to address shortages and replace those who retire or leave the profession for other reasons. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual salary for K-12 administrators, including building principals, is more than $103,000. In addition, research has shown that educators with graduate degrees have better job satisfaction and are more likely to stay in the profession as they advance in their careers.ย
For students wishing to continue on in graduate school, the credits earned in the Try on Leadership graduate certificate program can be applied toward a masterโs or Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree.
Licensure/Accreditation
This certificate can lead to Maine certification as an Assistant Building Administrator (Maine DOE certification 045). Contact Maine DOE for more information about certification and credentialing (external link).ย
