Classroom Technology Integrationist (Graduate Certificate)
About
Our 100% online Classroom Technology Integrationist graduate certificate provides experienced teachers and other education professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to seamlessly incorporate technology into contemporary classrooms and schools, and create engaging and dynamic learning environments. This four course (12 credit) certificate program covers the fundamentals of digital age teaching methods. Students can choose from a variety of electives on connected and creative learning environments; supporting technology integration through professional development and coaching; creating flipped, blended and online learning opportunities; computational thinking for diverse learners; and much more. Students in this certificate also have the ability to earn graduate credit by taking part in our virtual Summer Technology Institute for educators.
The collaborative graduate programs in Instructional Technology are housed in the University of Maine College of Education and Human Development with courses taught by faculty at UMaine, the University of Maine at Farmington, and the University of Southern Maine.
Our graduate certificates can be completed as focused, standalone professional learning credentials or as part of a master’s or Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree program.

Advising & SUpport
The College of Education and Human Development provides students with academic guidance and personal support before they set foot on campus through graduation and beyond. Our graduate students work with faculty advisors, who build genuine relationships and provide timely information to help you navigate your program, your work in schools and communities, and whatever else is on your plate.

Careers
Technology’s role in communication and learning is growing. As it expands, so does the need for professionals who can skillfully integrate technology into K-12 and higher education classrooms, museums, training for businesses and government organizations, and more. In addition, schools and districts around the United States are in need of highly qualified teachers to address shortages and replace educators who retire or leave the profession for other reasons.
In addition to hundreds of K-12 school districts in Maine and beyond, notable companies employing current students and alumni of our instructional technology graduate programs include the University of Vermont Medical School, Harvard Business School and Jackson Laboratory.
For students wishing to continue on in graduate school, the credits earned in the Classroom Technology Integrationist graduate certificate program can be applied toward a master’s or Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree.

Accreditation
This program allows students to apply earned course credit toward the State of Maine Computer Teacher endorsement (Maine DOE certification 680). Contact Maine DOE for more information about certification and credentialing.
In addition, the College of Education and Human Development’s teacher preparation programs are nationally accredited by CAEP, the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. CAEP accreditation is a seal of approval that assures quality in educator preparation and that our programs prepare new teachers to know their subjects, their students and have the training that allows them to enter the classroom ready to teach effectively.
