A Major in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
The major consists of at least 33 credits structured this way:
- Core curriculum consists of 15 student credit hours, plus a 3 credit Practicum/Internship with any designator
- Electives will consist of 15 credit hours chosen from a broad listing of possible course options, with at least 6 credit hours of 300 or 400 level courses
- Honor’s Theses will not count toward the capstone requirement; however, if a student completes an honor’s Thesis on a WGS topic, then 3 credit hours can be applied toward the elective total
A Minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
The WGS minor consists of at least 18 credit hours structured in this way:
- 1 required course (3 credits)
- WGS 101-Introduction to Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
- Two from: WGS 103, Intro to LGBTQ Studies; WGS 340, Transnational Feminisms; or WGS 410, Feminist, Gender & Queer Theory
- The remaining 9 credits can be taken from among the courses listed on the requirements sheet available below, additional approved department electives of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies topics courses, internships, independent study courses, or approved courses taken at another university in the U.S. or abroad
