Cellist Sarah Rommel will visit the University of Maine School of Performing Arts for a mini-residency on November 7 & 8.
On Thursday, November 7 she will present a wonderfully eclectic recital in collaboration with pianist Phillip Silver and cellist Noreen
Silver in Minsky Hall at 7 PM. The program features two solo cello pieces by women composers – Imogen Holst and Reena Esmail – along with Giancarlo Menotti’s Suite for Two Cellos and Piano, and the rarely performed Sonata for Cello and Piano by Francis Poulenc.
On Friday, November 8, Sarah will provide invaluable coaching to our chamber music students in a masterclass at 10AM in Room 316, Class of 1944 Hall.
Currently, Sarah Rommel serves as Artist-in-Residence and faculty member at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Sarah Rommel’s mini-residency is supported in part by a grant from the Cultural Affairs/Distinguished Lecture Series Fund, and with
generous support from the Alton ’38 and Adelaide Hamm Campus Activity Fund, as well as the School of Performing Arts.
