Harpswell Anchor spotlights Golet, Nadeau tracking bluefin tuna in the Gulf of Maine
The Harpswell Anchor spotlighted the work of Walter Golet, associate professor in the University of Maine’s School of Marine Sciences, and Samantha Nadeau, manager of the university’s Pelagic Fisheries Lab in Portland, whose research is helping document the resurgence of Atlantic bluefin tuna in the Gulf of Maine. After decades of decline due to overfishing, international conservation efforts have helped restore tuna populations, with UMaine researchers now finding increasing numbers of large bluefin returning to Maine waters.
