Harpswell Anchor features Morse in story on Maine’s future in aquaculture
The Harpswell Anchor featured Dana Morse, University of Maine Cooperative Extension program manager and aquaculture lead, in a story about the future of aquaculture in Maine, particularly the opportunity it presents in Harpswell. Morse, a part of the UMaine-run Maine Sea Grant, also co-owns Iron Island Oysters, part of the New Meadows River Shellfish Co-op founded in 2020 in Cundy’s Harbor. “It’s a mixture of education, outreach, tech transfer and applied research,” Morse said in an interview. “So that means I move between groups and constituencies like commercial fishermen, shellfish farmers, regulators, scientists, community groups and members of the public.”
