Apply for MIRTA accelerator’s sixth cohort

The University of Maine’s Office of Strategic Partnerships, Innovation, Resources, and Engagement (SPIRE) is now accepting applications for the 2024 Maine Innovation, Research, and Technology Accelerator (MIRTA) program.

The MIRTA program is designed to propel University of Maine System research projects from the applied research and development phase to commercialization. The program offers a comprehensive pathway for transforming innovative research into marketable products or services, providing up to $25,000 in funding to each selected team. The upcoming MIRTA 7.0 will run from Aug. 6 to Nov. 22.

Eligible teams must consist of two to four members, including at least one faculty or staff member from any University of Maine System campus. Preference will be given to those participating in the I-Corps program, though all innovators are encouraged to apply.

Participants will engage in intensive market analysis, intellectual property evaluation and business model development, and receive guidance from SPIRE staff and industry experts. The application deadline is July 3 with cohort announcements scheduled for the week of July 22.
