Media highlight economic impact study from UMaine on state lakes

A University of Maine study on the economic impact of Maine’s lakes and ponds was highlighted by News Center Maine, the Bangor Daily News, WGME (CBS 13 in Portland), WMTW (ABC 8 in Portland) and 92 Moose. Supported by UMaine’s Senator George J. Mitchell Center for Sustainability Solutions, the study concluded lakes and ponds in Maine are worth $14.1 billion in economic value — double the value since the last economic study was completed in 1997. Data will be helpful in informing policymakers on how to make financial decisions regarding conservation efforts for lakes and ponds. WABI (CBS 5 in Bangor) shared the report from WMTW.
