Description

Emily holds a B.S. in Biology from Pepperdine University and an M.S. in Marine Science from Moss Landing Marine Laboratories and California State University, Monterey Bay.  Her research has focused on invertebrate zoology and molecular biology; specifically her master’s thesis studied the emanation and decay of environmental DNA from three species of mollusks in California.  As a member of the Maine EPSCoR project, she will continue to use eDNA to detect invasive species in the Gulf of Maine.  Although she loved the ocean and invertebrates growing up, undergraduate research at Pepperdine University jump-started her career in research.  Her research has taken her into kelp forests, sandy beaches, and the intertidal in California.  She is excited to research ocean animals on the other side of the country starting in fall, 2020.
