no housing deposit required
The University of Maine does not require a housing deposit to reserve on campus housing.
The University of Maine no longer requires a separate housing deposit for students applying to live on campus. By eliminating the former $75.00 housing deposit, UMaine allows students to secure on-campus housing without paying an up-front, housing-specific fee that remains common at many peer institutions.
Many of our peer institutions require non-refundable housing deposits ranging from $75–$300 before a student can be considered for on-campus housing.
Previously, all new first-year and transfer students were required to submit a $75 non-refundable housing deposit as part of the housing application process. This requirement has been removed, reducing initial costs and simplifying the housing application process for students and families.
