Using Writing to Help Students Learn
We’ve known for half a century that writing is an important mode for learning. However, how to
use writing in classroom settings to help students learn content often gives instructors a moment
of pause. In this workshop, we’ll design short, easily assessable writing-to-learn (WTL) activities
for use in your classroom to help students think about the course content and reflect on learning.
WTL is a great approach for large-enrollment courses, as well as those that take place early in
the curriculum.
