North Campus Improvements
UMaine Facility Location
University of Maine, Orono
Project Summary
The North Campus Improvements project includes several changes to campus roads and parking to accommodate ongoing construction. Portions of the North Gym parking lot have been closed, resulting in a temporary loss of approximately 150 spaces, and additional work near the Shawn Walsh Hockey Center and Alfond Arena has reduced parking by about 50 spaces. To replace these spaces, the university has constructed a new 50-space lot north of Alfond Stadium, will expand the Wells Parking Lot, and will combine and rebuild the Dunn and Corbett lots into a larger shared facility. These updates will replace the approximately 200 affected spaces. The project also includes roadway adjustments, including a rerouting of Long Road to support traffic flow in the area.
