Route 228 in Perham

The small town of Perham was settled in the mid-nineteenth century and incorporated in 1897, and is named after former Governor of Maine Sidney Perham. Like many surrounding towns, Perham’s economy was and continues to be driven by the agriculture and lumber industries (Source). The town’s pristine natural beauty and access to wilderness keeps its visitors coming back over and over for more!

    • This trail passes right through Perham. The 61-mile multi-use trail is part of northern Maine’s Interconnected Trail System. It is used and maintained by various snowmobile clubs in the winter, and by bicyclists and hikers in the summer.

  • Swedish Colony  Perham, ME 04766
    • Maine’s historic Swedish Colony once covered much of what is now Perham and neighboring New Sweden, Stockholm, Westmanland, and Woodland, and many related sites remain in Perham today. Have an adventure seeing how many sites you can find along the way!
