Henry Hill
Henry Hill (He/Him) is a sophomore studying sustainable agriculture at Umaine. Before coming to UMaine, he completed an outdoor semester with Kroka Expeditions that made him extremely passionate about local food systems and figuring out ways to live more sustainably in community. He has experience with gardening and permaculture and loves to continue learning and building more sustainable and accessible systems. He believes that sharing food and giving people opportunities to grow their own food are the greatest ways to build more connected, altruistic-minded communities. Henry is a big bike enthusiast and runner and you can often find him in the mornings running on the many beautiful trails of Marsh Island. You can contact him at henry.hill@maine.edu
Elanor Gardner
Elanor Gardner (she/her) is a sophomore studying Animal and Veterinary Science at the University of Maine. Before coming to Orono, she lived and worked on her family’s dairy homestead in upstate New York, where she learned the rhythms of farm living from her parents, and their parents before them. A storyteller at heart, Elanor loves sharing the wisdom and secrets of the garden. When she’s not tending to her plants, you can find her working with the horses and cows at the university farm, riding with the UMaine Drill Team, paddling, fishing, or tending to her bees. Autumn Carmona
Autumn Carmona (she/her) is a senior majoring in Botany with minors in Horticulture and Sustainable Agriculture. She has worked at Fisher Farm in Winterport for the past two summers as an apprentice, learning how to grow food on a small organic farm. This experience has fueled her passion for community gardening and organizing. She is the garden steward for the Wilson Center community garden as well as a designer for the garden at the Terrell House. When she isn’t gardening, you can find her rehearsing and performing with the Free Parking band and sewing and designing her own costumes for their events. Stanley Carter
Stanley Carter (he/him) is a Botany major graduating in spring of 2028. Beginning with an interest in genetics and his mother’s garden at home, he has gone on to kindle a formative experience at UMaine. A year in the Haploid Genomics Lab informed him about possible futures in genetics. From there, exploration of the horticultural aspects of plant science made him come to appreciate that gardening is necessarily a political and community building act. Stanley believes that keeping communities together and thriving is the most important issue of our time, and that simple acts such as sharing and gardening are the path to solving this issue.
