At approximately 9:24 a.m. on Friday, April 19, a University of Maine graduate student was struck by a university vehicle on Long Road at the University of Maine campus in Orono. The student reports that they are at a local hospital with minor injuries.

Emergency services, including the Orono Fire Department, University Volunteer Ambulance Corps, University of Maine Police Department, Orono Police Department and Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

The university vehicle involved in the incident was a Chevrolet Express van. It was being operated by a university employee.

Counseling services and support are available for students, faculty or staff who may have been affected. The Counseling Center can be reached at 207-581-1392 and the Dean of Students Office can be reached at 207-581-1406.

The scene has been cleared and Long Road is now accessible. An investigation is being conducted by the University of Maine Police Department with assistance from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit. Kim Goff’s role as Large Center Development Associate is to facilitate the development and management of large-scale grant writing projects in a variety of technical disciplines to advance research and research commercialization. She also authors non-technical aspects of large proposals to enhance the grantsmanship quality of multi-year, multi million dollar proposals and work collaboratively with lead faculty on such projects.

Kim most recently served as the Director of Foundations, Grants, and Special Projects for the University of Maine Foundation. She has extensive grantsmanship experience in the higher education and healthcare markets, as well as broad fundraising, project management, team building, and public relations experience. She has written or been a major contributor to more than $60 million in successful proposals to private and governmental funding sources and closed gifts of up to $1 million. Her experience with proposal development encompasses both public and private funders and extends from identifying appropriate funders to creative reporting of project impacts and results. Kim holds a B.A. in Literature from Wheaton College (Illinois) and an M.S. in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
