Danielle O’Neill is a Research Development Specialist with the Office of Research Development. She holds an MS in Ecological Teaching and Learning from Lesley University, Cambridge and a BS in Secondary Science Education from the University of Maine, Orono. O’Neill spent the first part of her career as a public high school science teacher before transitioning into the non-profit environmental education realm; including working with Cooperative Extension 4-H for 4 years. She developed grant writing and marketing skills necessary to provide organizational support and increase public awareness as well as encouraged community engagement and fostering new partnerships to strengthen program depth and breadth. O’Neill’s areas of strength are STEM education, systems- & place-based pedagogy, experiential learning & positive youth development. She works to identify funding opportunities which support the mission of the university and encourages interdisciplinary projects/programs which develop collaborative relationships across campus departments, the University of Maine System, and beyond.
