Grants Academy supports research faculty and staff from across the University of Maine System (and Maine Maritime Academy) in the process of writing a significant external grant proposal to fund their research, scholarship, and/or creative activities.
This program is an academic-year-long cohort experience that includes discussions and optional activities on topics, such as: research/ programmatic ideas’ mapping; finding funding opportunities/developing a funding plan; creating a project budget/justification; collaborative, transdisciplinary research and broader impacts; proposal writing tips; and more.
The academy serves researchers across the spectrum; including those that are writing a first-time single investigator grant or sponsored fellowship, to those looking to build institutional capacity with public outreach, community-engagement, or curriculum development grants. Researchers nominated by their department chairs, unit supervisors, and/or deans are eligible to participate.
