Zebrafish muscle development provides insight into human diseases

Please join us for the first UMaine Medicine Fall 2020 Seminar. This seminar series will take place every Friday, 3:00 – 4:00 pm from September 25 through November 13.

Dr. David Harder, Director of the Institute of Medicine, will introduce the speaker and will field questions from the audience.

Speaker: Jared Talbot Ph.D., Assistant Professor, School of Biology and Ecology at the University of Maine. Jared Talbot investigates muscle development using zebrafish as a model organism. Dr. Talbot received his Bachelors in Science in Biology from Cornell University. He began his work on zebrafish developmental biology in Dr. Charles Kimmel at the University of Oregon. After this, he did a postdoc investigating muscle development with Sharon Amacher, initially working at the University of California Berkeley, then continuing the same work at The Ohio State University. He is now an assistant professor at the University of Maine in Orono.
