Biography

Blaise is an M.S. student in the Pelagic Fisheries Lab focused on the foraging ecology of Atlantic
bluefin tuna. Over the past decade fishery landings and observations have demonstrated a shift in
the forage fish community in the Gulf of Maine, from Atlantic herring to Atlantic menhaden.
This research will use stomach content analysis as well as stable isotope analysis to determine
the diet, condition and residency time of bluefin tuna in the Gulf of Maine. Blaise is also an
employee at the Maine Department of Marine Resources where he hopes to create a long-term
monitoring project for bluefin tuna diet that will provide data to help manage valuable forage
fish species such as Atlantic Menhaden.
