Jonah Smith

Role: As the Story and Multimedia Producer, Jonah puts the energy, culture, and real-world impact of UMaine on display through the medium of short-form, social-first videos. Jonah’s job is to pitch, report, shoot, host, edit and publish original content that captures everything from breakthrough research and major events to the everyday moments that define life at UMaine.

Bio: A second generation Black Bear, Jonah graduated from UMaine in 2026 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. As a student, he spent four years working with the athletic department, where he continues to freelance as a broadcaster and PA announcer. Jonah also spent his senior year working with ASAP Media Services, a student group who run the Maine Journal. His favorite place on earth is the Alfond Arena student section.
