Forest Wentworth

Director
Advanced Manufacturing Center

Forest Wentworth is the Associate Director of Projects at the University of Maine’s Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) and the owner of two independent businesses, Late Start Fabrication, LLC and Late Start Racing, LLC. In his role at the AMC, he leads a team of project managers, technicians, and engineering assistants to deliver effective, efficient, and impactful support to Maine’s small and mid-sized manufacturers. His professional experience also includes serving as a Quality Control Manager and Design Certifying Engineer at Gould Equipment Company, and as a Fabricator and Service Technician at P.E. Wentworth Co..

Wentworth’s career has been shaped by a philosophy he learned from his family’s small manufacturing business in Vassalboro, Maine. His father’s motto—”Always help the little guy—because every 100-truck company started as a one-truck company”—inspired him to become a mechanical engineer. For over a decade, he applied this passion by working directly with manufacturers as a Project Manager at the AMC and the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership (Maine MEP). His promotion to Associate Director represents a new chapter focused on his core passion: providing hands-on, engineered solutions to help manufacturers solve real-world challenges.
