Pips Veazey serves as the Principal Investigator and Director of Maine’s NSF Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR), a statewide program to enhance research, education, and economic capacity.
Veazey previously served as inaugural director of the University of Maine’s Portland Gateway. Other roles include the PI/PD role for Alaska EPSCoR, 6 years as a founding board member of the International Network for the Science of Team Science, and a two-term board member of the Arctic Research Consortium of the United States.
She led and co-created the UAF Visualization Space, a high-resolution visual environment designed to enhance shared understanding among researchers, community members, and organizations; promote conversations about complex problems; and co-develop creative solutions.
Expertise
Vezey’s research focuses on systems convening and enhancing effective leadership of large interdisciplinary science teams and collaborative projects. She has worked across the country supporting the development of high-performing science teams and research consortia. Her research includes time on and around the continent of Antarctica and the Greenland ice cap to examine the physical structures of ice over time.
