Alexandra Newson

Alexandra (Alex) Newson is a postdoctoral research associate with Project TIDES, a National Science Foundation–funded initiative examining the intersection of STEM education and disability. She earned her Ph.D. in special education from the University of Oregon, where she received a U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs Leadership Grant. Dr. Newson was awarded an Autism Intervention Research Network for Physical Health (AIR-P) Scholars grant to support her dissertation, which explored Autistic educator burnout through community-based participatory research. Before pursuing her doctorate, Dr. Newson worked as a special education teacher and educational assistant in both public and private schools across the Pacific Northwest. She continues to teach as an adjunct professor at Eastern Oregon University and contributes her expertise through service on the INSAR Autistic Researchers Committee, as the ANSWER representative for AIR-P, and as an advisory board member and consultant for universities and non-profits nationwide.
