I have spent over 30 years doing research in the area of the surface treatment of paper to understand industrial processes such as sizing, coating, and printing of paper. Research often combines mathematical models and experiments to understand processes. Key topics are coating flows, rheology, flow in porous media, fluid-solid interactions, and surface tension driven flows. Recently, the application of cellulose nanofibers to the surface of paper has been of interest.
