Rebecca Bian

Assistant Professor
Civil and Environmental Engineering

Dr. Bian focuses on supporting multi-modal transportation planning, design, and operation through research with the knowledge of transportation engineering and data science. Her enthusiasm and contributions in enhancing multi-modal transportation research, education, and outreach lead her to serve as a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Active Transportation Committee.

Dr. Bian is also well recognized by her research works in analyzing/modeling disaster evacuation behavior and human mobility in extreme weather. She has served as an active member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Standing Committee on Disaster Response, Emergency Evacuations, and Business Continuity (AMR20; 2018-2025) and Standing Committee on Transportation System Resilience and Security (ACF18) since 2025.

She is actively looking for more talents to join her research group at UMaine.
