Active Learning Classrooms (ALCs) are wonderful spaces to teach in, but it is important that you feel prepared to use the space and resources effectively.
This interactive, hands-on workshop is designed to give you concrete, immediately applicable strategies to make the most of your ALC, without wasting a moment.
Here’s what you’ll gain:
- Hands-on Experience: You’ll experience active learning as a student, so you can immediately see how strategies like gallery walks, jigsaws, and think-pair-share will work in your own classroom.
- Effective Group Work: Discover and practice inclusive and equitable strategies for group work and discussions.
- Practical Assessment Tools: Learn to design in-class activities that effectively assess student learning in an active environment.
- Troubleshooting & Best Practices: Navigate the strengths and challenges of different active learning approaches.
New and experienced ALC faculty are encouraged to join!
NOTE: This orientation to teaching in an ALCs will be held in Ferland Room 337. This is an active learning classroom in Ferland the new Engineering building, NOT Fernald, where CITL is located.
