Web Conferencing Service Evaluation

A UMS team has been charged with seeking a more robust, modern and reliable replacement for the dated Adobe Connect web conferencing system. This team is under the sponsorship of the Educational Technology Advisory Committee, an advisory team to IT selected by Provosts from every campus.

The features we have asked the vendors to highlight include their tools educational application for instruction, online office hours and advising. There is also a possibility of acquiring a system that would seamlessly integrate Polycom enabled rooms with folks using traditional computers and mobile devices to connect to a web conference. This goes beyond the traditional educational application to also encompass meetings and other forms of distance collaboration across the university.

Google Hangouts will continue to be available after this acquisition for those of you that are already heavily reliant on the Google offerings.

We have two bidders that we are considering and are arranging demos to which we would like to invite all that are interested. The demos will be from 12:00-1:00 on Friday, March 9th and Friday March 16th. We will be asking the vendors to use their tools and virtual meeting spaces to provide their demos and you can find the directions to connect below.

You will also find below a survey instrument for each vendor and we hope that you can take the time to provide feedback on the experience.
