Kennebec Valley Community College Transfer Agreements
UMaine is proud to work with Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC) to encourage KVCC students to consider continuing their education by earning a bachelor’s degree at UMaine.
Below are programs supported by UMaine and KVCC that are available to KVCC students.
AS in Psychology to BA in Psychology
The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology is designed to foster a scientific understanding of behavior by exploring the wide range of factors that shape it — from molecules to the brain as a whole, from sensory input to reasoning, and from genetics to social and cultural influences. Students develop rigorous scientific reasoning skills while exploring how behavior develops from infancy to old age, how individuals perceive the world around them, how we think and remember, and how we interact with other people and what it means for a behavior to be considered pathological.
UM/MECCC General Education Block Transfer
The Transfer Block is a defined set of general education requirements that transfer into all University of Maine System and Maine Community College System institutions. Students who complete all the requirements of the Transfer Block will have completed the bulk of their general education requirements at all of Maine’s public institutions. Maine’s universities may require up to additional 11 credits of general education credits specific to their program, or to a specific bachelor’s degree. Completing the Transfer Block, however, does not guarantee admission to a particular university. For more information consult your KVCC adviser.
Reverse Transfer
KVCC students who decide to transfer to UMaine before completing their Associate’s degree may be able to transfer courses from UMaine back to KVCC to complete and earn their Associate’s degree from KVCC. Students interested in a reverse transfer should contact their KVCC adviser for more information.
Please note: These agreements are frequently renewed and may at times be under renewal. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Teresa Smith, Director of Advising and Enrollment at KVCC 207.453.5082 tsmith@kvcc.me.edu or the UMaine Admission Office.
