Activate Your UMS Account

This is your first step after acceptance.

You’ll use this account to access MaineStreet, your UMaine email, and other student services.

What you’ll need

  • Your Student ID number
  • Your activation key (from your admissions letter)

Activate your account

Go to the UMS Account Activation page and follow the instructions for admission applicants.

After you activate

You’ll receive:

  • Your UMS username
  • Your password
  • Your @maine.edu email address

Save this information securely. You’ll use it to log in to all UMaine systems.

Next steps

  • Log in to MaineStreet using your UMS username and password
  • Check your application status
  • Update your personal information

Note: It may take 30–60 minutes after activation before you can log in to some services, including MaineStreet.

  • Check your email regularly
  • Or forward it to another email account you use often
    (Only new messages will be forwarded.)

Visit accounts.maine.edu to:

  • Change your password
  • Recover your password
  • Manage other account settings

Use the UMaine Portal

The UMaine portal brings everything together.

Once your accounts are activated, you can use one login to access many UMaine services.

Access the portal

From the portal, you can access

  • MaineStreet
  • Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive
  • Brightspace (learning platform)
  • Campus announcements and quick links

Review Your To-Do List

Your To-Do List helps you stay on track.

You’ll find it in the Student Center within MaineStreet.

Your To-Do List may include

  • Document submissions (final transcripts, immunizations, etc.)
  • Financial aid follow-ups
  • Admission or registration tasks

Visit accounts.maine.edu to:

  • Select an item and click Details
  • Review instructions on where to submit documents
  • Find contact information if you have questions

Check your To-Do List regularly to be sure you don’t miss anything important.
